I would like to know if this is the rare version of this 1943 1 Franc out of my grandfather's collection. If I remember correctly, there were two version of this coin. Any information is appreciated.

there was a thread on CCF about this, about a year ago. I thought that I had a note of it .... but, apparently not.

Krause notes a few versions of these. I would suggest that some examination of the notes and pictures in Krause and some thought be applied, to work out which variety this coin may be.

For 1943, there are 2 different types: the type Bazor with the axe, and the type Morlon with the head. The type that you show here is the Bazor. For the year 1943, there is a light (1,3 g) and a heavy coin (1,6 g). The light one is the more common priced at EUR 0.5 in VF, EUR 3 in XF and EUR 25 in UNC. The heavy one is a rare one, priced at EUR 150 in G, EUR 250 in F, EUR 400 in VF. Higher grades are very exceptionally.

Thanks. I now remember that I posted about this a year ago. Forgot about doing it, so I apologize for posting twice. Looks like I need to get my hands on a gram scale.

I hate to burst your bubble, but for the 1942 1f, the 1.6 gram is the common one, and the 1.3 gram is the rare.

In this particular case, it is not necessary to weigh it, to determine if you have a rare '43 1 Franc.
Just find a common example, which is easy. Put the two coins together, the heavier coin should be noticeably thicker.
