My dad's always had a soft spot for half-dollars. Franklins are his favorite, and he has a complete set of those back home. I thought I'd get him something this year that he doesn't already have, though. Not the best pictures, but I don't anticipate getting a chance to take better before I give it to him. It's toned rather nicely, pretty uniform throughout.

Awesome gift! Your dad is lucky! Make sure you read up on the columbian half dollar and the classic commemorative series history.
It's almost a sure thing that the combination of the excellent gift from his kid and a history lesson will get him hooked!

great stuff...not to steal thunder from you but I got my dad a 1947 Walker in MS61 since that's his birth year. Well, my mom is gifting it to him but I sourced it for her. Its a great feeling, glad to share with someone that did the same.

History? Charles Barber designed the obverse and George Morgan the reverse. No wonder this half captivates us all!
