I am trying to see what time of year is best for selling silver because it seems the closer we get to Christmas the lower it goes! Maybe everyone is investing in toy companies?
I recently got a bunch of silver and am trying to sell it, but it makes me sad that it was up $3 an ounce a few months back :(
Is silver affected by time of year? If so, what season is usually best?

I am always a buyer, shoot me an email if you are interested in selling now.
Thanks

Whoever can come up with a reliable answer to your question (on an annual, quarterly or even monthly basis) could become extremely rich in a relatively short time frame and would have the entire PM market begging him for the secret of his success. Seriously speaking--best of luck with your quest for The Big Answer. If you find it, you'll be the envy of all the rest of us.

I don't think there is any good time or bad time of the year. Prices may spike up temporarily sue to seasonal demand but not much. BTW, what are you trying to sell?

If you only buy and never sell when you need money... why have it?

If I need money I just don't buy at that time. I don't sell stocks to get money either.

I think most of the people here are in for a long term. Ideally, none of us want to sell it unless it is at its peak. The money then get re-invest once the price drop back down. As for the timing of when it is high or low, your guess is as good as everyone else. That being said, when emergency coms and we needed the money, in that case, that strategy goes out the window. Right now probably is not a good time to sell but if you need the cash, not much you can do about it.

It's a long term investment. I have never needed money so badly that I thought of selling. Maybe if I was going to lose my house or a medical emergency, but other than that no way!

I think the selling window is closed and we are at the high end of a buying window. I sold off 25oz two days ago to fund an AR purchase. I intend to replace those ozs if and when silver does its usual slump during the holiday season. If the trend goes like it did last year, I'll concentrate on numismatic coins during the spring and get ready to load up on bullion during the summer months.

As a student, I have school loans that accrue interest. I figure that making long term investments is something I will do when I have my degree and am making a good salary and I'm paying off debts instead of making more.

Quote: It's a long term investment. Eat ramen noodles, wear Goodwill clothes, and keep your silver! A lot of my silver is from the $5/oz. days, or junk silver I saved from circulation. The fact that I haven't sold any of it at $30/oz.+ should say it all... (Not that I could ever fault Broseph or anyone else for wanting to pay off their debt first!)
