I just checked the US Mint website and they have sold out on the 2012-S bags and rolls for El Yunque, PR ATB Quarter. I also rechecked US Mint webpage about the El Yunque "S" quarter and it still says: "The United States Mint will accept and fulfill orders beginning June 21st, 2012, at noon (ET). The El Yunque National Forest quarter bags and rolls will be available for one year after this date." Does anyone think the US Mint will mint more or will they once again go back on their word. For those of us that waited for them all to be released, we now have to get them on the secondary market at higher prices. What a bummer!!

Thanks for the info! Interesting that for Chaco & Hawaii, just the bags sold out. Then for the El Yunque, the bags and rolls sell out simultaneously.

No, they will not mint more as San Francisco is already well into the production of 2013 coins. The Mint used the year availability timeline because of the similar scheduling for the P&D rolls and bags which they make many more of than the NCLT S coins. You want them, you gotta grab them fast. 1.4M is not that many rolls and bags. Wouldn't be surprised if the other four rolls and Denali bag sell out soon, too.

Where would I find the production figures for the 2012-S ATB Quarters? I have looked on the US Mint website and can't find them?

Quote: For those of us that waited for them all to be released, Ummmm, why would you wait for the release of the fifth quarter, to get the first? I don't get that logic. That would be like complaining that I waited to buy the first issue of the new Avengers series until the first twelve came out and then complain Marvel wasn't printing anymore. The rolls must have just sold out because I ordered another one last week. Guess I am part of why they are gone eh?

It only makes sense if you are buying something like the P&D circulation set, which does not come out until all five have been released. I was hoping they would do a set for the S-quarters, but it appears they are not, which means I will be buying the "set" at the next coin show.

As soon as the Denali S quarters were released I purchased the entire series (to date) thinking that they would be shipped to me in one box. Wrong. They each came in their own little box. Not to worry, I repacked them and stored them away for future use.

jbuck, the thing is there was absolutely no indication there would be a set like that.
ghost, the last order we got in had 6 boxes with one or two rolls each. It was ridiculous.
The moral of the story, don't wait, strike while the iron is hot.

The reason I waited to order was because the US Mint charges $4.95 shipping and handling with each order and their description said they would be available for one year from when they first went on sale. I thought I could wait and save about $20 in shipping and handling charges. Ended up having to purchase some of the more expensive rolls instead of bags. Live and learn I guess.

The trouble about striking while the iron is hot at this time of the year is that there are way to many irons in the fire. I just didn't want to wait for them to be released and was hoping that there was going to be complete set of these coins. You know like the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set the mint is pushing which is just a repackaging of previously released coins. Since I didn't see it listed I went ahead and ordered rolls of each and now I'm glad that I did. With my luck come 1/1 the mint will suddenly issue a limited edition of the 2012 ATB S quarters at $12.75 + shipping and handling. Which may be a bargain but I have my needs fulfilled already and so I won't be needing it at that time. Thank you very much.

I also am looking at it from a resale point of view as well. Not just for our collections but to sell, so it behooves me to get them right away. But even if I were not selling, I would be getting the rolls anyway, so again, for me, waiting serves no purpose.

Yup, there are always individual goals to consider. One size does not fit all, not should it.

Quote: The reason I waited to order was because the US Mint charges $4.95 shipping and handling with each order I bought each "S" roll near its release date, but I combined each roll with at least one other item to save shipping. My MAH C&C Sets, Uncirculated Dollar Coin Sets, SSB Commems, etc. each had an "S" roll to keep them company on their way to my house.

The coins with animals appear to have a better market than the ones without. Here are my favourite ATB Quarters: Glacier, Yellowstone, and El Yunque. As I am not a price flipper, I generally collect (one of each) three coin sets. By the way, does anyone here know the production limit of these three coin sets? I didn't see it on the website during my previous visit.

Quote: The coins with animals appear to have a better market than the ones without. The first S-mint ATB 100-coin Quarter bags to sell out were Hawaii Volcanos and Chaco Culture, neither of which have an animal in the design. That said, the El Yunque-S (with its beautiful parrot design) was the first to completely sell out. Quote: By the way, does anyone here know the production limit of these three coin sets? 1.4 million total "S" circulation-finish Quarters of each design was the preliminary figure.
