My avatar is my most inspiring coin. It is full of symbolism.

The message on the rim is Morse code for "We win when we work willingly"

The V (said to have been borrowed from American pre-1913 liberty heads) has a double meaning: V Latin for 5 cents and V to depict Winston Churchill's famous two finger salute for victory.

Krause Publications has just announced the ten category winners for the 2013 Coin of the Year Awards. Best Silver Coin
Royal Canadian Mint â€" 2011 Canoe $20 for $20 Silver Coin

The reverse design depicts a young person rowing a canoe. The reflection in the water reveals an early native paddler in a traditional birch bark canoe.

That's what I like, sure its NCLT but its a good marriage of old and new.

I think the Voyageur Dollar represents "my" Canada. From Chilhood until now, some 53 years, there has always been a canoe hung up somewhere. Additionally, Canadian History/geography have always been a passion of mine. So I find the Famous Canadian Silver Dollar most inspiring.

Now, and I could go on for pages and pages...The one coin(s) I love to look at with my magnifying glass...are the 1937-1958 50 Cents coins with the very nice Coat of Arms. Their "depth" and detail allows for very neat photos.

Honestly, the Canadian coins out recently with coloring on them are all amazing, but I still have to think of the "1937-1952 version of the .50 cent piece" is tops, The 1973 MOUNTIE quarter, And most of the commemerative silver dollars...

My personal favourite is also the victory nickels, especially uncirculated tombac ones. The colour on them is spectacular in hand.
