I have been looking into ebay for selling morgans. What I found is that at best They will be taking over 11 percent of every sale. This won't work for me as they would be making me lose money on most coins that way. Does anyone have any advice they can give me, if circumstances require some liquidation?

Craigslist is a great option if you don't mind meeting people.

Is there a certain number of posts I need to be able to sell here? I confess I don't remember all the rules.

You need 250 "quality" posts and 90 days as a member to sell things through CCF.

Craigslist sounds like a good option. I would prefer to get cash. At the very least to avoid the large fees of auctioning.

I sell Morgans often on ebay. But only those that a collector would have interest in. In other words, the coins need to sell for $34, not including shipping (at today's silver spot price = $32). Else the ebay fees are too high. I'd rather work for me, than for ebay.

ebay is getting pretty fat off those fees. They are even taking a percentage of the shipping costs now. If you sell at 34, you're only taking home 31 and change after the fees. This is not including shipping. Is there some trick to ebay selling that I'm missing?

No, I don't think so. $31 is acceptable for some of the Morgans I sell.

Quote: You need 250 "quality" posts I just received the email telling me that I can post sales on the forum. Based on some of my postings, "quality" must be a subjective term...

Ebay.. the easy to use system, and huge number of users/customers is worth the fees IMHO.... I woukd be afraid to meet up with someone who wanted to buy my silver morgans.....

Fortunately for all of us we still have the right to bear arms to defend ourselves. And I do. The best deterrent to some bad ideas is the fear of consequence. However ebay is really easy to use. I'm just praying that silver prices shoot back up again. The fees won't sting so bad then.

Morgan silver dollar prices are relatively independent of silver prices. Sure, get silver up above $40, and Morgan prices will rise, but it's a slow responding effect. But don't forget that Morgan prices have essentially held constant from a few months ago when silver was $27, to now at $32 - $34.

I just noticed that today the sale prices seem to be dipping a little on morgans at ebay. It made me a little nervous. I am new to this and your advice helps to ease my nerves.

If you want cash, then Craigslist or even the newspaper is about your only choice outside of having a local dealer sell them on consignment. But the dealer is going to charge a minimum of 10%.
