Was browsing through ebay looking for a Seated Liberty dime and came across this.

It looks to me that some one took a 1861 and tried to turn the 1 to an 0. I just sent a queary to the dealer and asked them. Thought I,d get your thoughts on the matter

its an 1860 but its not a dime, its a Half Dime...i'd like to see different pics other than what is posted on the auction...

This isn't a particularly rare issue. No reason to believe it's altered, especially since 1861-O doesn't exist.

Tough call from those photographs. I think whatever makes it look that way (I see what you're talking about) is overstated by the lighting. A bag hit could do that.

Looks like distortion in the photos. The coin also looks cleaned and some photo work was done to enhance the color.

and look at any E. They have taken a smaller image, increased the size and lost much of the detail.
