Story behind this one: My dad has held off that he was a avid coin collector. We then dug his "treasure chest" out of where it was being stored. He said someone gave him this coin while he was working a toll booth on a bridge. After receiving the coin and the car sped off, he called to have the bridge raised to stop the car. Once he realized it said Massachusetts on it, he called to let it go . He said the guy jipped him 24 cent for toll. Anyways, he expressed some slight concern over it being real after some of his own research. He couldn't remember if there was a star on it, which after some examination, there was. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but what you have here is a copy replica. Diagnostically, the devices are totally incorrect for a genuine coin. These were only minted in 1787 and 1788. Cool story though and welcome to the CCF!
Yeah, the font does look extremely odd. Completely different from a picture of a real one if you ask me. Much appreciated. At least is was essentially free.
