Hello all,

As you can probably tell I am new to these forums and am looking for help identifying the coin. I have looked all over the web and browsed these forums but I haven't found anything that shares a likeness with my coin.

Honestly I am just looking for some assistance identifying what it is. It looks to be a 1896 Morgan, with a gold liberty head and then an all gold reverse. I read over the VAM post and the only other details I can really provide is there is no mint mark, approximately two denticals and no double dies.

Here are so photos:

Its a 1896 Philly Morgan dollar that has been gold plated. I see them pretty regularly. Was most likely made for a jewelry piece and is essentially worth its Silver Content value, as collector value has been erased by the alterations

I figured it might be something along those lines. You are correct, it was a jewelry piece of some sorts. It used to have a hard, plastic outer shell that I removed and was word as a necklace or something.

Thank you for your help.

Sorry but your coin has PMD. I posted a modern silver eagle in another discussion. Parts of it were gold plated, and I was told it was PMD.
