for non-Oz readers -
PATERSON appears on our current $10-note;
the Swagman appeared on a NCLT $1 coin some years ago;
the Jumbuck was a stalwart on our shilling 1938~1963, our five-pound notes of the 1950s & '60s; and appeared again on our 1991 50-cent.

Quiz for advanced students: what was the Swagman's name ?
Clue: the answer is in the song.

The swagman isn't named in the song itself, but it's believed to be based on the story of Samuel Hoffmeister.

I dont know the name of the ram but I remember it is modelled on the winner of the Sydney show from the early 1930's.

Speaking of rams...... I have seen the original photo of a flock of Merino sheep at Bungaree Station in the Clare Valley in SA - that was depicted on the inter-bank 1000 pound note from last century

Samuel Hoffmeister - another myth ...

Congratulations to The Unicorn & karloning, you each got it half-correct.
The Swagman is ... Andy ONCE, as disclosed in the song.
