I was wondering if this 1921 silver dollar was polished.

I am sure more experienced folks will be here soon, but I am going to hypothesize no... Just saw a morgan a friend polished only two days ago... It did not look like that with the slight toning.
We shall see if the experts agree!

I would say this coin has never been polished.

Well, that's good to know. Thanks for the opinions. At least that's one in my collection that's not polished!

Does anyone want to tell me what they think a possible grade on this dollar is?

Nothing to make me think this coin has anything but original surfaces, and no worse than AU55.

Looks unmolested to me. High AU, either a 55 or 58.

I was thinking not polished either since it is toned and not white-faced like a polished coin would be and don't see any fine lines or anything.

Quote:get it attributed by a VAM expert...that crack running along the AMERICA on the reverse is sweet looking I went there last night before I posted - the crack isn't fully-enough developed to indicate a particular VAM. You'd have to have an identical example in-hand, that you'd attributed, to compare. It's not any of the "famous" ones, either way.

I'll vote original surfaces also. Nice frosty subdued luster. Looks AU-50
