I had to look at this for a good while before I realized that is was a proof. What a shame. I doubt there is anything that would make it look any better. It seems more like corrosion than some type of goo. From the same box I pulled a nearly perfect 77 proof also.

It's definitely seen better days, but it's certainly an interesting example of what happens to a proof when it is set free.

I agree with Jayman931 that you should start a collection, even if it is an ugly coin. It's still a proof.

I think I might keep it as a pocket piece and see how it turns out. There was another thread on here where someone had some UK coin I believe.. I want to say it had Winston Churchill on it.. anyway.. it was in a fire or something and it came pretty clean after some months in his pocket.

Wow, I've seen some ugly ones found from roll hunting, but this one is terrible. Looks like it was sitting on the road for awhile, either that or buried.
