I know its a fake, but amazing quality lol. I'm always on the Canadian side of the board, but couldnt resist the "modest" $1 asking at a local estate sale for the 2 headed prez. How often do you yanks come across these?

Quote: counterstamp A stamp or impression placed on a coin after it has left the Mint of origin. Counterstamps were frequently used as advertising gimmicks on large cents and other coins. The counterstamp leaves a permanent impression on the metal and may hurt the value of the coin. It may also help the value, as in the case of an Ephriam Brasher counterstamp.

Where depends on who did them, and what for? They may have been a give-away for new bank accounts, or I would bet they had some made from a 1976 Cent as a give-away at Bicentennial parades.

Are you talking about a half dollar Magicians coin? Drop it on a table, does it sound hollow? If so good buy for a dollar. You can get the coin open by putting it in a mason jar and shaking it back and fourth. They are used for the "scotch and soda" magic trick. Iv never found one thats double heads or tails.

Yes the Magicians coin....First time I have ever come across one...When it came apart, I couldnt believe how well done the tooling was. I guess they used some sort of router or dremmel type tool.

I've posted this one before. This is my silver two-headed half. If you look closely, you can see the line around the outer perimeter where they were joined together.

Fun coin....The one I have is almost seamless. Cant really tell at all on either side...The rim is the only way of really seeing anything on the one I bought.

I also have a two headed Kennedy half. The drop test is a "clunk" sound. It's a 1964.

In my most humble opinion, these coins are more about deception than magic. I guess the two go hand in hand. But you know how it goes....."I call heads." You toss the coin and it always lands on heads. A guaranteed winner. Yes, the magic has it's application too but when I was younger and had this coin, magic was the last thing on my mind.

Magic was the last thing on my mind as well, but if I only had this coin back then...I can assure you it would be put to good use lol.
