I want to put together a Set of War Nickel Certified PCGS.

My Question is should I go FS I believe I would like to go MS66 but many of the FS are quite expensive, MS 66 without the FS Designation are much Cheaper Or I could go MS65FS when the MS66FS is out of reach?

I guess my real thought is should I go MS66 or MS65FS.

Is it possible that some MS66 are FS without the Designation?

Thanks Billy

wif99, I started with PCGS MS65 FS nickels, but I found it a bit pricey as well, so I started 1938 from there, to some where in the mid 1950's and went with PCGS MS 66, still working on them..
Mid fifties to sixties, price jumps. The SMS 1965 I went to PCGS MS 67...through the 1970's. still a work in progress...

War Nickels are very beautiful coins. Search for those with blazing silver luster and a strong strike.

Looking for a complete set in PCGS MS66FS will be an expensive proposition even without the die varieties. Just 11 coin date/MM set would likely cost over $2,000 with the 1945-S being the biggie at $1,000 itself.

Consider buying the best you can afford. In MS66 (non-FS) this is a very reasonably priced set. A hand selected set of MS65FS pieces is the way I would go, but I don't have $2,500 to spend on a MS66FS set right now. You could also go with MS66FS coins on all of them except the 3 that are expensive and get those in 65.

Good Luck!

Pricy in MS66FS but I would venture to say that 15-20 years down the road, they will appreciate more than the others. I like the philosophy of buying the very best you can afford.
