You've got a reason to love that coin. It's actually the prettiest coin I've seen all day.

What is the lump on the obverse at 7 o'clock? Dirt? Horn silver?

Yah, it always amazes me when I stop to think => hey, this lil' coin is almost 2400 years old!! ... plus, it was made "by hand", with some dude hittin' a punch with a mallot!! (at least that's the visual that I have in my head)

... yup, this coin absolutely rocks!! (well done my ancient mallot wielding friends, well done!!)

Doug => ummm, I was kinda hoping that you'd be able to tell me what that was? (I'm only the "banker" => you are the trustworthy knowledgable coin God) ...

I've eyed these types of coins for a long time. They are not cheap. This one is in particularly fine condition. My guess at price would be $750 or higher. Very nice pick up Jerry.

I checked around on Wildwinds, before and after purchasing this wonderful coin, and there are several other examples of these types of "deposits" on these types of coins ... but alas and again, I do not know why these deposits are ther, or what process occurred?

=> can anybody else help-out?

It always makes me nervous when I see two coins with the identical "lump". And when you're spending this kind of money, I know you want to be certain of what you're gettin'. Proceed cautiously my friend.

Thanks for the heads-up, my coin comrade ... luckily, this coin is from "my guy" and he has stated that it looks solid!! (he did give me the skinny on the coin's previous owner and that this owner was a legitimate-force in the coin collecting world, etc) ... so "hopefully" this coin is a winner

=> again, we (I) can only proceed with the knowledge and the coin-contacts that we've weaved ... I love "my guy" and I trust him with my cash ...

=> I love this coin, and I think that it rocks!!

Trust in the person you buy from is perhaps the best factor when making decisions in these matters.
