Ok, just some random thoughts!
well, ok well I like getting these proof Eagles and Buffs. Thats easy.
But dang... I want some Britannia's and they are hard to get at a reasonable price, proof I mean. Then its so limited on China pandas, in order to get a proof, you have to go for a medal type coin. Which the mintage is limited, I like that,, but man price shopping its soooo tight. Canada, unless I missed it I dont see proof versions. As far as Krugers from SA, ditto there. ... and then the Aussies, I dunno the prem doesn't seem reasonable and then I cant find at LEAST 1/4 oz Roos!! Grrrrrrr!!!
Man... and ima not sure I want a panda BU. I been trying to narrow it down to proofs for the most part.
But even the Panda medal/proofs are a hard find.
oh well I will keep searching. Personally, I think these are the best to stack and sock away. They give some sort of cushion over spot prices.

High premium items hold their value when spot drops, thats why I stay away from bullion that is always worth real close to spot like Santa Clause Christmas from 1977 lol. And I usually go after older rare silver bars persoanlly, or rolls of Morgans, Peace, ASE, or RCM coins.... Proofs are to high usually though. I can't justify adding a 1 oz. pice for example with bells and whistles with tones and high MS grades from one of the big two graders, if I can get a good solid 5 oz. silver bar for the same price....

yes I agree. its gotta be something, if its bullion, that gets a prem added to it. IE a sheet or roll.
proofs, never have had a problem getting them direct from gov mint and sitting on them or finding the best price and just sitting on it.
i just cant imagine and I give the rest of you guys who do it on this board tho, buying like bags of silver and what not I just couldn't do that myself.
As far as grading,,,, I feel its like... just a way for the dealer to add more mark up and MAYBE when you are dead and give the coin away, that it will catch up value wise lol

I'm trying not to add high priced silver, but time to time in order to diversify I'm buying numismatic bullion that holds value (so far) no matter where spot moves ... my best choice is chinese modern coins if I can get them cheaper than on ebay while higher than spot - these are holding value pretty well. The only problem is - it is hard to get these for cheap)))

How do you guys feel about proof silver when it comes to resale? Does it hold up the way gold does?

Yea I was collecting Pandas and in trying to remember where I left off since coming back, looking at where I stopped off, man ima glad I got those years ago and not trying to collect Pandas from previous years because the prems are something else lol In looking at what I have proof wise, silver brits, silver eagles, and even those from the Perth Mint, while not looking to sell, just referencing auction data from ebay, those are now selling, depending on the year, 20-30% or even more that what I bought back in the day. so for me, I think collecting and sticking again, to proof silver and gold and buying directly from the gov mints as possible OR competitive priced proof items from dealers is the path for me.
