According to the MintNewsBlog the prices of the ASEs and the 5 oz ATB pucks will be increased for 2013. No mention of the West Point set, but I am sure the cost of this set just went up. Probably $159.95 I am guessing. Here is a link to the full article...

Silver prices are down considerably and they raise the cost of sets, makes sense to me. They keep jacking prices and there will be far less sales of their products.

AH good old mint. Silver goes down price goes up. If theyre trying to get the ASEs into the price range of some of the other world coins like the Britannicas then they need to start limiting their production. Other wise people will just wait for the aftermarket price to go down

Someday, maybe they'll actually "catch on" and make their prices flexible and pinned to a given margin over spot (just like every online PM dealer in the entire internet). How's that for a wild and crazy idea?

Until that time, I guess they'll continue to lumber along like a farm tractor trying to keep up with the rest of the vehicles in the Le Mans Grand Prix.

@basebal21---The day they limit production to achieve Britannia-like price thresholds will be the day 99% of the serious silver stackers will drop ASEs off of their menu and refocus their concentration on CSMs,
Philharmonics, Libertads and bars. I think they're at an OK price point right now and I hope they're not dumb enough to blow the good position they now enjoy. I don't think anybody stacks Brits by the box or even tube.

I didnt even think about the bullion ASEs. If they did the price increase for those two theyre going to see sales plummet.

I dont really understand their logic behind this price increase other than they figure theyre going to be in the red next year. My guess is theyre raising the 5oz pucks to try and make them been seen more as a numismatic item and protect them and their prices if a significant decrease in silver happens.

But I dont understand the ASE raise. It didnt just become more expensive to make those unless theyre trying to recoup loses from the 2012 set debacle

One answer: the lack of seigniorage from the president dollars ordered by the Fed this year. So the accountants saw the books and said, lets rob Peter to pay Paul...or kill the goose that laid the golden egg. It is 'just' $3 more per oz of silver product, but that is going to raise millions from the sheeple. I wonder when the tipping point is going to happen: the masses just say no.

or the bullion products they have always done that, for the ASE it's $2 over spot. Or are you saying the online PM dealers are selling the collector versions at a fixed mark up over spot? (Reverse proofs at spot + X)

I think they jumped the gun on raising these prices before the new year even starts. I can see if they want to raise the proof ASEs price since they go on sale in a month (which still seems too early to me) but for the other silver they should at least wait until a little closer to the sale date. We all know if ag goes up they will raise the cost of the coins but if it goes down they probably will keep the same prices. Just seems like bad business to me.

I think what you all are forgetting is that two weeks ago silver was up about 35.00 and is at 30.34 right now. The decision to raise the prices was likely made back then and took a while to percolate through the system. NOTHING in the government ever gets done right away, you know that. Plus, the price is not going to remain at 30, it will get back up. Not to mention the increase is NOT official and a whole 3 bucks. And the increases listed were NOT for the "bullion" issue, only the proof and uncirculated.

Based solely on the fact that the prices are not official yet, commentary at this point is really useless.

Last week I ordered a 2013 ASE for $29.99. They only had 250 at that price though.

I was under the impression that by law the US Mint had to keep ASE production to the same level as their demand. Can anybody quote a law that would confirm that?

Who was selling ASE's at below spot? The lowest silver went (spot price) was $29.90

At zero premium and probably below spot I would have bought all 250 at that price....
