As you'd expect, I'm trying to find out how many print runs the RBA have done for the $5's, $10's & $50's we've seen circulating this year.
Okay, we've seen the following:
$5 from BA to EA
$10 from AA to DF
$50 from AA to DA

I spoke to the RBA a while back & they did confirm that $5, $10 & $50's had been released to help with lack of supply.

Has anyone seen?
$5 after EA? Beyond EB
$10 after DF? Beyond DG
$50 after DA? Beyond DB

This could get us hunting pre-released LAST prefixes. We already know the first prefixes (& I've seen a $50 sold on ebay for $80 plus post).

What do we think?

ditto

And I'm concerned that the RBA might not release first and last prefixes in September if they are releasing them into circulation now.

I've seen some $5 & $10 in eastern suburbs of Melbourne, all of which were early prefixes.

I did speak to the someone from the RBA who said that they had already released notes into areas that had low supply. The lady didn't really say much more than that.

MobOfRoos; I think they'd release first/last prefixes based on previous years sales. So they'd keep enough to supply previous years orders.

I've seen the following sold on ebay; a $5 BA, a $50 AA & a $50 DA. So I guess it'll be a case of wait & see.

The last $5 & $10 notes were release back in 2008 (with other notes released in 2009, 2010 & 2011).
Yet every year has seen multiple print runs of $50's. Print runs for $50's saw 6 in 2009, 2 in 2010 & 3 in 2011. I assume lots of $50's are either getting circulated/spent or held onto by business.

Today (04.01.13) I stumbled upon:
$10: 2 x DC12(both the same prefix)
Also on ebay there is the following
$10: 1 x AA12
$10: 1 x DA12
The problem is they're all from the first print run: AA-DF
I'm assuming they'll do a minimum of two print runs of the $5's & two print runs of the $10's since there haven't been any since 2008. Possible prefixes. I might have to give the RAM a call on Monday & see if they can give any more info.

From the past the runs have been as follows.
$5: (40 notes per sheet)
BA-EA (1st)
EB-HB (2nd)
HC-KC (3rd)

$10: (45 notes per sheet)
AA-DF (1st)
DG-GL (2nd)
GM-KE (3rd)

$50: (40 notes per sheet)
AA-DA (1st)
DB-GB (2nd)
GC-JC (3rd)

They could well do more than 3 runs each. Since Polymers were released; $5 have only ever had 3 print runs; $10's have also only seen 3 print runs but $50 have seen 7 print runs in 1995 (their first year).

Okay, so over the past week, I've been through 1,000 x $10 notes & only pulled 3 x $10 2012 notes out. The second half had NO 2012's in it & that's what I was looking for to help grasp some knowledge of this potential rumour of 2012 $10 test notes. So lets all get our acts together & work this thing out. I don't want to sound demanding, I'd prefer to sound crazy or like a junkie...addicted to numismatics!

Goatie, I think you're suffering from that mysterious numismatic disease notaphily-phiftipoly withdrawal!
