I'm confused about the pricing of the 2012 American Silver Eagle. The US Mint has the version from West Point and sells for about $10-$15 more compared to reputable on-line dealers who have the " no mint mark" San Francisco version. What's the deal? I realize dealers get rolls and package them for sale. So there's a level of "extra handling" that doesn't occur with coins from the US Mint. And maybe this could introduce a more inferior coin? Or is there some valuation associated with the West Point mint mark? Thanks.
In reality, the S minted coins without mint mark should not command any higher price than any other bullion ASE. The only way to tell it came from San Francisco is if you pull it from a sealed monster box from the mint. Big dealers ship the whole box in to the TPG for slabbing as a S no mint mark coin. They charge a premium to recover their costs and make a little extra. The W mint marked coins are special collector coins with a burnished surface and sold by the mint to collectors at a premium. Mintages are low on these coins.

2012 bullion (no MM) coins minted...approx 34 million
2012 W burnished collector Eagle....179,181 (plus 14,072 in the dollar set)
