Hi eddio

The 1943 looks like the 2 points of the leaf were just knocked back in toward the center of the leaf and kind of squished down, giving you the "piled up" look on those 2 places of the right leaf. I'd call it PMD. The 1955 looks like it has a lamination flaw with the metal retained. More common in the 1940's pennies, but certainly seen in the 1950's as well. Nice!

It may not have been done on purpose, it could be just the vagaries and misfortunes of a coin in circulation for almost 70 years getting knocked around a bit. The marks don't look recently done, so who knows where it's ben and what it's gone through. It has an interesting look, though.

Hi eddio

Looks like I have to revise my opinion on the 1943. Yesterday I picked up guess what? You got it -- an exact duplicate of yours. I bought mine because of the die clashing and the several die cracks on it, but it also has those two areas of extra metal on the right leaf which I now think must be die chips. A closer look at your photos seem to show that your coin also has die cracks running off the points of the right leaf and another one running from the left leaf up to the "1", as well as one running from the top of the "1" up to the denticles. If yours also has a die clash running from the large bud up to the left stem yours and mine are from the same die series. Cheers!
