Hey All,

I'm new to the forum - just registered today.

I received a 1909 VDB Penny as part of my change from coffee this morning. I'm wondering if I've just had a lucky break, or if it's not worth much?

A few GOOGLE searches have yielded many differing estimates, so I wanted to come to the experts.

Picture attached.

Thanks!

They do turn up occasionally in various places including pocket change. I found one in a roll a few years ago but not as nice as yours. Great find!

Thanks for the welcoming and kind comments! I did some more research in the past couple hours, bpoc1 , and it's true! I was close, but no cigar ;)

If I had the "s" mint mark I could've taken a nice little vacation. Oh, well! Thanks for all the info everyone :)

Great find. It's very cool to know that coins over 100 years old are still being found in circulation.

What smokeriderdon said is certainly a possibility or this one has been idle in someones change jar for a long time and finally set free.

Thanks for sharing and
