Hi all I have a 1748 5 thaler brunswick wolfenbuttel.

I cannot find one that has sold on the internet. None on ebay or Worthpoint. I found that it is a more rare Thaler and is valued at $1300-2000. But I am wondering how that value is ascertained if there have not been any up for sale lately?

Have any sold lately and if so were and how much?

How would one go about selling a coin like this?

Thank you in advance for any info.

The letter M under the head of Karl I. is the initial for the die-cutter Mahrenholz
EK under the horse is the mintmaster. Engelhard Johann Krull.
minted in brunswick (braunschweig)the coin was also called pistole.
you will not find that coins often on ebay or worthpoint.
they mostly are in professional auctions and good auction houses.
i wouldn´t by such a coin on ebay.

at the www, you will find more if you use the german translation braunschweig.

If a rare and obviously valuable coin has no recent sale record, perhaps auction at a leading auction house is the way to go.
Usually some good professional research is applied to help realise a better price.
