As I was browsing through ebay I noticed a $1 note with a serial number that looked familiar. I was trying to remember where I saw it, and then it came back to me.

So here we have a seller auctioning off a Coombs & Randall one dollar note: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Coombs-Ra...em43afdeea76

which was screen captured off this site: http://www.australianbanknotes.net/...otes/r72.htm

It seems this is NOT the note the buyer will receive, but yet it does give that impression. Quite deceiving really.

Technically sellers are not allowed to use stock photos in the coins & paper money category as far as I know. Your best bet is to report the listing and give evidence as to why.

Edit: Still can't type with one hand apparently.

Are you sure the seller doesn't own the note? It might be their site, or they might've loaned the image to that site.

I am pretty certain that if the seller owned that site or allowed that site to host an image of this note they would have made reference to it Walter.
I doubt that this is the case , Well spotted dosh
A referance to that site could only help to increase the bidding activity on this note "If genuine and the same serial number"

I'm not sure if the seller owns the note or the site. But I think it would be quite a coincidence if he did own it.

It seems a bit odd that a seller with over 2000 feedbacks at 100% approval rating would sell
something that is not theirs and risk their rating

Seller is selling A LOT of GOOD notes. I'd imagine they own this serial number.

When sellers use stock photos, they usually state, "you will receive similar". I'm thinking it is his, and maybe he doesn't know about the site.

Is it possible the person who owned the note originally, and had it photoed has since on sold it?
