For those of you not in the know (and I was certainly not until today).
I would post a pic but I'm without my scanner right now.
Anyway, just bought a US Military Payment Certificate as a novelty more than anything (Series 681 10cent block no.64) and can't believe they fetch around $60? I only paid about a buck for it.
Is this right?

I have a similar note (the 25 cent, but same '681' series and everything). I've never heard of them going for $60, where did you see one going for that much? I bought mine out of a dealers cheapo-bin for $2.

You should be able to get a full set of Series 681 fractional notes in UNC for a little more than $60.00. EF or less should only sell for a buck or two. Replacements (notes lacking the suffix letter in the serial number) will get that kind of money even in Fine.

The new Chambliss book "A Concise Catalog of Military Payment Certificates" lists it at $2 in Fine to $15 in CU (14,112,000 printed). There are also 48 replacement notes known with a value of $150 in Fine.
