Hi,

I think it would be much easier for me to just call up a bank and ask for an order of half dollars instead of asking a teller in person. Do any of you have experience in doing this? Thanks.

This worked at my bank, but it really depends on what bank you have and what their policies are. Some do not order halves at all , and some charge per box/bag. I have had results both ways.

Good luck!!

My bank allows me to do this. They are even nice to enough to call when my boxes come in.

Obviously depends on the bank. If you go in and ask very nicely for them to call you, you can get their number and then just call the min the future.

Build a rapport with a branch manager or several tellers first. Then it will be easy for them to order boxes for you. I do it and it works but you have to gain that relationship first.

I deal with the head teller (who does the weekly coin ordering) at each of the 2 banks where I pick up. I have accounts at each bank and the HT's both know me personally. They're both cooperative with my ordering in person or by phone.

Its always been easier to order in person for me. Over the phone I've received the polite brush off, but it is always harder for them to say no, especially if you are a regular. Just my opinion based on experience...
