I'm almost positive that it's the real deal, but I'd appreciate other opinions on it before I take it out of the 2X2. If it's a SD, I'll try and get some better pics and toss it up in the grading section. Thanks in advance, *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

If turned just a tad clockwise along with a close up of the date at the same time it would nail it. So far looks to be a SD. Need to see that 7 a little better.

No need to remove it from the flip for now.

Yeah, scotty, looks like you have a small date. But, would like to see it more straight on.

Hard to tell from photo, the softness of the "ERTY" in Liberty looks good. However, from the present angle it appears the "0" sticks up above the line extended parallel from the top of the "7".

Curl of the "9" points up from the base of the "7". "7" has notch in corner, line along top of "7" is to top of "0". NICE SMALL DATE!

I'm certain it's a SD just from the shape of the "7", but all the other markers are there too.

1970-S small date LMC. Geepers ... you can not imagine how many times the collective CCF experts have addressed this question ... good to see a coin that actually rings the bell. Nice coin in this apparent condition ... remove from the 2x2 and offer up for grade opinions. David

Thanks everyone! I was almost certain that it was indeed a SD, but I wanted to be sure before I pulled it from the 2x2 and tucked it into my 7070.
Off to the grading section now!

I'm fairly new to finding errors. I found my first 1970S SD recently. All the literature and resources I found describing the shape of the '9', or the 'O' or weakness in the 'TY' of Liberty as the key to spotting a SD. From reading this thread, it looks like most people agree that the location of the 7 is the real key. For me, it was the 7. Over the last couple years, I've found several that I thought might be SD. When I saw my real SD, I knew instantly, and it was the 7 that stuck out.

The 7's have it ! Actually, I spot them easier looking at them upside down. Well, that's just me.
