Pleased you put it up here Scotty ... looks much better out of that 2x2 in the other thread. Hoping you now have the coin back in some level of appropriate protection.
I humbly question BadThad MS64 opinion ... clearly recognizing he is the Master and I am but a lowly neophyte at grading this series.
The obverse bag hits on the portrait are many ... none huge by themselves ... but the accumulation of 20+ of them takes it toll IMHO on technical grade.
The reverse lower fields have two big bag hits ... and the unfortunate hit directly above "C" of "CENT" can almost be described as a gouge.
I'm going MS63RD on this lovely coin.

No problem searcher! That's why we have this forum, to discuss and educate. I'll give you some of my rationale for 64. The obverse is at a TPG 65/66 level...in fact, I've seen worse obverses in 66 holders. The fields and luster are very nice and the obverse carries most of the grade weight. The reverse luster and fields match the obverse with the exception of two hits, one moderate and one severe. An additional penalty is given for the deep hit being in a focal point. Without that on deep hit, this could would clock in at 65 all day long. Starting at 70, I took away: 3 pts for the deep hit + 3 points for the other hits --- 70-6 = 64.

Another thing you need to take into consideration in BadThad's fondness for the Memorial set

This is great stuff and a big part of the reason I like this forum.

I love the tone of it, and the lustre. Too many hits on the obverse for me to go more than MS-63 - but I'm relatively new - so take that with a grain of salt. Overall, nice example of that year.
