notice above liberty, thick line above each letter. Lots of scratches maybe from the die? also the mintmark looks a little weird to me.. any feedback?

in my opinion I would say polish lines but I'm no pro. I sharpened your pics so some of the pros could give you a better idea.

Not die polish, flowlines. See how the lines all the way around the coin radiate outward away from the center of the coin? That is the direction the metal moves during striking radially outward. This moving metal creates wear and flowlines on the die faces. When the die is new these lines are microscopic and contribute to the flashy cartwheel luster. As the die is used more and more the lines get bigger and more prominent as we see here. Eventually they get very bad and start distorting the lettering.

I agree. It's not an error. It's just a worn and deteriorated die.

Stick with it ...it's really fun .Especially when you find one good coin out of a few tausend ..And stick with this website too....I learned so much from the poeple here.

Ill tell you what, If it hadnt been for a girl I know that brings me pocket change pennies, then I would have never found that double mint mark penny. You never know when you can find something rare and valuable even if it takes picking pennies off the ground!
