Not die polish, flowlines. See how the lines all the way around the coin radiate outward away from the center of the coin? That is the direction the metal moves during striking radially outward. This moving metal creates wear and flowlines on the die faces. When the die is new these lines are microscopic and contribute to the flashy cartwheel luster. As the die is used more and more the lines get bigger and more prominent as we see here. Eventually they get very bad and start distorting the lettering.

I agree. It's not an error. It's just a worn and deteriorated die.

Its an addiction everywhere I go I somehow come back with coins in my pocket to look at or that I wanna add to my collection of coins found in circulation knowing that I don't have any 2x2's or my scope to look for errors and stuff lol I think I need coin rehab lol. Its the best hobby in the world

addiction is right ...lol...since I started my coin hobby,I find coins every where. On the ground ,underneat vent machines ,on store floors,in the breakroom at work, underneat benches after poeple get up ...lol...Where ever I go ,I keep my eyes planted to the floor .Diden't ever realize how much pocket change poeple loose. Stick with it ...it's really fun .Especially when you find one good coin out of a few tausend ..And stick with this website too....I learned so much from the poeple here.

Ill tell you what, If it hadnt been for a girl I know that brings me pocket change pennies, then I would have never found that double mint mark penny. You never know when you can find something rare and valuable even if it takes picking pennies off the ground!
