I was going to say VF 25, but I would have been wrong as well. Looks like PCGS liked the detail more than the color

^ The coin in this pc looks considerably different than it does in the first pic. Very nice.

That 2nd photo of the obverse shows much more detail. It clearly shows separation of cheek and jaw.
Very nice coin! Thanks for sharing.

My VF25 wasn't too far off. The only reason I went that high was I had a feeling the coin looked better in hand than the pictures showed. The obverse image appeared to be bleached out. The last image in the slab looks better in color and detail. And we all know how good the reverse looks. Better than my F12.

I couldn't see the cheek/jaw separation in the photo. The ear is almost gone, but the reverse is VF. Looks like the reverse carried the grade.

Quote: PCGS was a bit more generous in their assessment. WOW, I guess they were, the photos shown doesn't look any where near VF-35. But, great for you Jaobler, now you have a very valuable key date coin.

This is one of those coins you never want to remove from the slab. Might get a different grade next time around.

I can see the cheek/jaw separation in the whole slab picture. The big pictures are with too much light and it's cutting through the patina. I bet in hand the coin looks more like the second pic. The center details on 09-S and SVDB's can be weak, I've seen it before. I submitted an 09-S that folks here guessed from EF to AU, it cam back 62. The cheek and jaw were slightly wide.

Big difference between the first picture and the whole slab picture. Goes without saying but - Great coin!

I took some new photos and this looks like the best I could do. The lighting is critical for making the obverse detail visible and I can't seem to get optimum angles using my basic desk lamps. Maybe I should invest in some kind of super-flexible gooseneck lamp so I can really focus the primary light at the best angle and location. Thanks for all the comments; I appreciate the feedback!

Lot better photos than the others, but still cannot see where PCGS got VF-35, it must have been the reverse, because I can't see the obverse being that grade with the ear pretty well missing... but still a great key date Lincoln.
