Hello all so I'm facing the age old question of what to spend my Christmas money on....I have a little over $550. I'm thinking to get either some silver or a gold coin. Any suggestions guys?

Let's start with the question...
What do you collect?
This should help us narrow our answers down.

This might be a good time to start on a Golden Jubilee Set from 1887. That's something I've always wanted to do.

Since your not sure just yet what to do with that money, I suggest sending to me for safe keeping. This would stop you from purchasing something you really don'e need or want.
OR you could look into beginning a collection of US coins of one of the many denominations.
Purchasing any Gold or Silver coin for the metalic content is what many do and sometimes come out way behind or way ahead. Sort of like the stock market. If you don't want to be found saying, I shoulda, coulda, woulda in the future, look for and buy something you like.

I just spent most of my Christmas money yesterday afternoon. Picked up two commemerative half dollars-a 1934 Texas MS64 (very close to 65) and 1925 Lexington AU58 and a 2012 ASE for an even $300.

Am not familiar with US coins, so if you like gold, get a Sovereign Gold coin from Britain or Australia and save up the rest.
