using your siggy. I reported several auctions (6) altogether that are current and involve the identical fake.
Quote:The first auction listed above was listed by the same seller I reported a few minutes ago. Here is the text of my earlier report to you. -
As a long time collector I know beyond all possible doubt that the coin posted is a replica and a poor one at that. I wrote to the seller and initially he took the auction down admitting it was UNDERWEIGHT and had a reeded edge which is of course impossible. He also indicated it was magnetic. So I was very surprised when it re-appeared. I guess this is because there are several identical fakes posted right now and each re-enforces the others. This coin as a replica sells in Hiong Kong for Under $1 and in bulk as little as 10 cents each. It is copper nickel. Any person even mildly conversant with the series will know immediately that the coin is fake. Only inexperienced bidders would think it is real. This is one of only a handful of truly BAD and extremely easy to spot fakes that appears all the time. I write to all sellers when they post one of these but well over half ignore me or re-post the coin. Because this seller was warned - this auction constitutes FRAUD.
He had cancelled
200872398139 after I sent the following note.
Dear manelesluis,
Hello, Are you aware that the 1882 8 REale you posted is a Modern Chinese counterfeit that is worthless? These are horrible, crude non-silver knock offs that cost less that $1 in Hong Kong. Check out any reputable auctions for this coin and you should easily see the problems. Original 8Rs DO NOT have reeded edges and they weigh 27 grams not 20 or 21 grams like these things. Also about half are magnetic. No chance the coin is real.

I can only suggest that he may have seen other identical coins and figured I was wrong - but it takes ZERO expertise to tell the difference.
So I did a search to locate other identical fakes that should be terminated.
There is ONE auction where the nature of the coin is PROPERLY IDENTIFIED
221163553133 - the coin is called an IMITATION which is a correct description - that auction should NOT be cancelled. The others which are fraudulent all should be cancelled. This last seller listed above in fact has 4 identical copies.
For comparison with a real coin see completed auction
350675744983 which involves a real 8 Reales coin made in Zacatecas (Zs) in 1882. Just compare the two coins side by side and there is NO DOUBT.
When checking completed auctions I was sickened by the numbers of the BAD copies that have been sold recently.

251164173594 sold for $69.51 for 3 identical coins.
130776455094 sold for $36.99
121016966842 - properly described as having NO SILVER also sold but I find no fault there because it was correctly described. NO FRAUD
Unsold examples of the identical coin are as follows
170958062342 no bids at $25
281039040803 no bids at $40
221166773900 no bids at $40
300827805190 no bids at $50 BIN $100
330838374173 no bid at $89.95
So there are 6 live auctions involving this fake but 25 were posted earlier.
Please stop this FRAUD it hurts coin collecting ingeneral. These are JUNK - as a collector who is a specialist in OLD COUNTERFEIT coins that is quite an admission. I attach value at least a minimal amount to most counterfeits BUT NOT TO THIS ONE.
