So my friend gave me this coin, the only reason I took it was because it was totally dark. Do you guys think it has just rusted all over? It is very detailed( you cant really see from these pictures), has anyone found a coin like this? Any information would be awesome.

It looks like it's been heated or possibly exposed to chemicals. Coins dug out of the ground or lost behing machines in the laundromat often look like this.

It is a sort of rust that collectors often refer to as "corrosion". Different metals are especially prone to specific types of corrosion that is often simple oxidation.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

It do have some eye-appeal, I'd hang on to it.

Ooooh, a Black Beauty!!

I see these relatively often, but usually they're "spotty" and not all nice and even like this. Seconding the probable corrosion.

I with john. Environmental damage. Original mint luster is missing.

Yes, I also put hundreds of quarters that look just like that into circulation every year, after digging them from the ground, and lightly tumbling them first.

Hey, I appreciate the feedback about this coin, teaches me for future referance. I think I'm going to keep it just because it does have alot of detail and because I like the colouring. Thanks again. :).
