Looks like the first bidder had a max bid of $30 and someone kept bidding in small increments until $31.77.

If someone has a higher Max Bid then you and you place a bid it will say "You have been outbid" and every single time it counts as a normal bid from whoever had the Max Bid. No other name will appear as a bidder unless they go Higher then the Max Bid of the first bidder.

Kinda confusing no worries. Sometimes I don't get it myself.

If I got it right, you mean that this pexe1216 guy was trying to bid starting from $1 but whatever his bid was, it wasn't placed in the bid history except when it reached $31.77 which is higher than the Max bid of the first bidder.

Thanks a lot graceoutcast I was just starting to think that the first bidder either had some extra money that he dont know what to do with or has just gone crazy.

Thanks

Your 1st bidder placed a maximum bid of $30 dollars, instead of having to bid $30, ebay will bid for him automatically until a bid exceeds $30. This keeps him from having to sit as his computer all day, and still gives him the lowest possible price if he wins!

That's about right. His bids never really counted because it was always outbid until 31$.

Yes ebay can be confusing
I once outbid myself
I had like 300 max bid and the second bidder was only 240 and then on the moment of closing ebay grabbed my 300 which was the hidden reserve and I felt like a fool paying for 300 were the second bidder was only 240
That was the last time in my life I gave ebay my maximum bid before 20 seconds before the end
That is called sniping
