It certainly does seem incredible.

I remember when I first joined ebay in 1999 that with only three negatives, an ebay member was kicked off.

A month ago I bought wall to wall floor covering on german ebay
By accident using the wrong person the vendor reported me the same day as non paying bidder which resulted in ebay sending a mail saying the vendor was asking his ebay fees back because I had excercised my european right of purchase at distance allowing me to cancel the order without any excuse necessary within the legal delay .

I telephoned the vendor telling him in german what I thougt of him
He apologised and said I had to tell ebay it was a mistake or I risked a strike against me and three strikes and I was out ( or he was out )

So I told ebay the misunderstanding was generated by lack of a common language
I received an email that no strike against me was noted and the problem settled to everybodies satisfaction Of course they got their fees ; the guy had his money and to my surprice I got the wall to wall flooring which I had allready mentally written off as another

Like I said before I am a trained ISO 9001 Quality Lead Auditor
Any client coming to me with less then 99.7% satisfaction had better have a good explanation for me and a good plan as to how he was going to improve

Do ebay stores get special treatment as far as the amount of negatives you can get compared to a non store seller?

Unbelievable as it may seem, there are sellers with more negitives than that.DVD and movie sellers have some very bad feedback.Such as "digitaldogpound" has 1500+ negitive feedback.I think it all goes by ratio, good to bad feedback but there should be some kind of limit as to the number of negitive feedback you can have.

Along about five or six years ago when ebay put the dollar sign as its first priority, any limits to the numbers of negative (and neutral for that matter) feedbacks went out the window. Now it seems those with the highest number of negs are ebay's preferred sellers. It now takes an act of congress or god to get an eBayer NARU'd. This ultimately may be ebay's death sentence. Fortunately, I sold my ebay stock last year, albeit at a loss. I've kept an eye out on it, however and it hasn't gone anyplace and as long as ebay continues to shoot itself in the foot, reputation and credibility-wise, its stock won't go anywhere in the foreseeable future.
