Theyre trying to get extra money for it with a lower selling price and higher shipping. At best that would ship priority for half that cost if that
EDIT: didnt notice you were over seas. For you no that doesn't seem high, it should be noted however I'm in the US and it was telling me 12 something to ship North Carolina to DC so hes definitely ripping people off with that in the US

You have the option not to buy it.I've shipped to US for a couple of quid.Anything I sell for more than £15 goes recorded at £1.65 at my expense and over £50 goes special delivery.A coin under £15 goes at 60p for a first class stamp.

Yes, always take shipping in consideration. Ideally you should think of shipping the same way it costs you gas money to get to a show or shop. That is not the case though since many will charge extra for shipping to get a lower listing fee but they want more money for the coin. If the cost of shipping + cost of the coin is two high, simply don't bid or buy it. Many simply overcharge or start their starting bid too high and those coins don't sell usually.

Yes, they want you to pay $16 for a coin worth melt. I would stick a stamp on that it isn't worth much and nobody really is going to go through the trouble to say they didn't get it. I would charge melt for that coin.

basebal21, you're correct that I'm overseas, but my stateside zip code (North Dakota) is what I have listed for my ebay mailing. buddy16cat, I believe you are correct in identifying the sellers intentions, but what I don't get is a quarter is not worth $16 in melt.

It's sad and cynical to charge that much, especially in relation to the low value of the coin. A low feedback fly-by-night eBayer or a really inexperienced newbie, but then again, some bid $7 plus $12.44 shipping. God bless 'em.

Best to avoid dealing with someone like that.

The coin will simply not sell though, it is not worth $16. If they started at melt plus a stamp and maybe through in a couple Wheat cent rolls finds as a bonus, it would definitely sell with at least a couple bids.

Quote:basebal21, you're correct that I'm overseas, but my stateside zip code (North Dakota) is what I have listed for my ebay mailing. Yea mine was saying like 13 and I'm 1 state away from him. If hes not overcharging for shipping the only thing I can think of is that hes sending registered mail which is completely overkill for that coin
