@52 Raymo
$129 for a one ounce round, I'd like to find that buyer and sell him some more!

Yeah I don't know about that listing of his but I believe Fred Weinberg is a very respected error authority.

I got my avatar coin from him and he usually has some pretty neat things there. I am not sure how you call a round like that an error. Kind of leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Quick update: I have been steadfastly studying photos online and features that I find attractive in this coin. Thanks to commems commentary, I really feel more comfortable with what I should be looking for. I am holding true to my decision to not purchase one until I have experience looking at them in hand. The problem is most of the coin stores in the area seem to take me more seriously when I have my hubby with me than when I am alone and hubby is still getting over the flu so we have not had an outing yet. (This does not bother me, it is what it is). The next coin show will in my area will be in April so I plan on focusing my in hand experience there. So it will be a while for this purchase but I find that when I plan, scheme and really take my time, the satisfaction I feel for finally getting what I want is so much more than my impulse purchases. Thanks again for all the comments - I may put additional updates here but most likely will start a new thread when I find MY Oregon.

 On my watch list. I am trying to stay true to my goal of looking at many in hand before buying one. HOWEVER, please feel free to keep posting suggestions!

Cant wait to see what you end up with. Such a beautiful coin.
Have you been actively looking at them/handling them in person? If so, can you share some of your findings?

The two coins stores I frequent, that are open on the week-end, do not have them. The offered to acquire one for me but I passed since I did not want them to purchase on my behalf. The other coin stores near me (and there are not many) are only open on weekdays between 10 am and 4 pm so they are not an option.
There will be a coin show in April nearby that I can go to and hopefully really get some experience. I have been to this show for several years in a row so my face is familiar and I think they may grant me some leeway in looking at Oregon commems.

Good luck on your journey. One day I WILL own a 1926 in MS64, listed at $188 on Numismedia I believe.

Today is the day (I hope). I have been looking and researching the Oregon and I finally will be headed to the coin show shortly. I hope to be able to trade the 1912s Liberty nickel as part of the payment for it. Unfortunately I have to break out the pirogue since we have major storms here today. I just hope the vendors are not packing it in early. I usually try not to go to a coin show on the last day but this past week and yesterday I was tied up with a genetics symposium. While I missed yesterday at the coin show, I did manage to get my geek on yesterday in a major way. Wish me luck!

Sounds like Kelly would fit right in on the Big Bang Theory... genetics and classic coins.
