bummer, I was really planning on winning this one. Maybe they finally noticed that the Half Cent was mislabeled by pcgs as a large cent.

WOW, I didn't see the pictures but I am surprised that Heritage missed that.

I'm surprised that pcgs made the mistake. Then I was surprised that the owner didn't realize. Then I was more surprised that it went to heritage unnoticed as well. lol. I thought I was gonna get it. Had great eye appeal in my opinion and it would have sold under what it was worth. Doh!

Too bad you weren't able to get some photos of it before they pulled it. What date was it?

My hard copy of the Heritage auction catalog does not have a photograph ...

However ... Lot #8239 is described in the Large Cent section as 1854 AU55 PCGS CAC.

That must have been embarrassing to finally realize it is a Half Cent. So much for Heritage/PCGS checks and balances along the way.

Yeah that's what it was. I think previous sales for the coin (if it were a large cent) were around $120 with buyer premium.

And yeah it went through so many hands. Surprised no one noticed until now.
