If you examine the reverse the area opposite the Cud will be weakly struck ... a clear photo of both sides of the coin always helps us to help you. John1 Moderator United States 56855 Posts	Posted 01/04/2013 8:41 pm Cud An area of a coin struck by a die that has a complete break across part of its surface. A Cud may be either a Retained Cud, where the faulty piece of the die is still in place, or a full Cud, where the piece of the die has fallen away. Retained Cuds usually have dentil detail if on the edge, while full Cuds do not. A Cud will always include the rim. If it's only on the rim it is called a rim Cud and if it goes into the field of the coin then it's just called a Cud. John1 Report this Post to the Staff
