This is a coin I want but it appears to have been dipped. Is there any way to restore a semblance of natural color. (without recoloring) Thank for the replies, Steve

Let it sit on a window sill for Months. Should help a little.

Thanks Dave, I was hoping you'd take a look. I've heard of this method, a assume it's the sun that does something. (oxidizes) Have you ever done any experimenting with these orange-ish coins?

I don't own it yet. The seller insist it's original, I'm not convinced. If anything It's not harshly cleaned so if it darkened up it would be a nice upgrade for my set.

Looks like a Husby coin. He doesn't clean coins but he will sell em. He always states if they're cleaned. Very trustworthy and you get what you see.

Ha, I got into an argument with him one time and we eventually became good friends. I tried to get him to join the forum here but he's too busy. He usually has some killer Lincoln's too.

Would a treatment with some VerdiCare help this one any? Not to remove any verdigre just to give it a more natural look. John1

The light is pretty strong, I suspect it will actually look better in hand. Otherwise, do the window sill trick. It's not the sun, it's the natural exposure to air that will cause it to brown a bit more.

I went skiing and then got involved in a project (installing hardwood floors). Realized the time and ran to the computer. To late. It was a 1872 and sold for only $153 (or there abouts) I messed up. :(

Missed out on a 1968 proof set with a nice cameo quarter also. Sometimes I get tunnel vision and loose track of time.

This is why you use sniping programs, so you don't have to be there when the auction ends. If you forget or have to be somewhere else, the program bids for you.
