That looks like a barbarous radiate imitative copy of a Roman Imperial coin of the 3rd century. A great deal of them are said to copy Tetricus I.

I do like the crude style of the coin. Nice coin, btw. Yeah, it could also be copying Tetricus II. Who knows.

A barbarous based on Tetricus, I can see what looks like 'HICVS AVG' remaining on the obverse.

Very odd in that it has what appears to be a 'J' in the text on the reverse. Tried to work out what the reverse is based on but not had any luck, it has a strange triangular item on it I don't recognise.

Value wise about the same as the real thing, £5-10 in an auction on ebay.

Thanks guys, I can't even read the text with my Loupe or with the 2.5MB photo blown up on my screen.

Have looked at Tetricus on wildwinds and can see where you are coming from.

I thought the reverse was a mountain with some sort of tower on it at first but when viewed at one angle I think it is a person holding a standard - does that make sense ?
