Looks like Teletrade has dropped down from 4 auctions a week to one on Sunday only. Wonder why! Sure going to miss the Tuesday night, no reserve, no buyers fees auction. Got a lot of good buys there. Anyone have any info on why they went to only 1 auction a week?

It is a popular site now and they have built their brand... they will go for higher end pieces and make as much $$$$ as before or more with less then half the work!

SMART

PS It'll be just one less place we can go to pick up affordable pieces, though.

They also increased their buyer's fee to 20% 17.5% according to the e-mail I received. I have noticed recently that the sales prices have been often significantly lower than their stated market values (which are high I believe) and I can't help but wonder if they felt that having 4 auctions per week was watering down the pool.

Should be interesting to see what happens now, especially once buyers start figuring in the 20% 17.5% buyer's fee.

EDIT: I stand corrected on the percentage increase - thanks @beaglebailey for your attention to detail.

As an after thought, I wonder if they will make they will see increased profits or a higher profit % with one auction and higher priced pieces.

When I waited tables, I would always pick up the 2 and 3 tops and let the other waitresses get the larger groups. There were more 2 and 3 tops and while I did hustle more, I always wound up with the most tips at the end of the night. 2 and 3 tops tend to tip at a higher percentage as well since the bill is not as large as a group bill. The best part was no one figured out what my "secret" was!

With a new buyers fee that stiff they dont really have a choice but to move towards higher end stuff and less auctions. Sellers arent going to be selling mid grade stuff there with the beating theyll take on the sale price from the buyers fee.

Just one less place I will be looking in. What about my 400 Gold Point I had accumulated? Were not worth much anyway. Sure will miss the Tuesday actions. Oh well, back to ebay.

Same here. I have had good experiences with them in the past.

Gold Rewards Ending: Following Auction 3407 on Sunday, December 30, 2012, Teletrade will discontinue the Gold Rewards program. All previously earned Gold Rewards points will be honored through June 30, 2013, or until the expiration date arrives, whichever comes first.

More money for them with less effort. Good for them, but bad for some of us, me included.

The first sentence at the link I posted states the following: "Here at Teletrade, we take pride in the fact that we not only listen to our clients' concerns, but also continue to seek ways of improving our auction process." I think they may want to rephrase that and say they listen to their high dollar customer concerns.. Can't blame them, its business..

Before ~2005, I could purchase coins at Teletrade for less than what I would pay on ebay. But, those days are now long gone. Today, the coins on Teletrade (that do sell) usually can be purchased on ebay for much less. Since ~2010, I purchase nothing from Teletrade. Their prices can not compete with ebay anymore. Teletrade must try something new to fix their faltering sales, but, I don't think their new model will help. I believe Heritage and ebay will be the death knell to Teletrade. JMO

Just been checking on the Teletrade auction that runs for 5 or more days. This is the third day now and not many items have had any bids yet. Guess they thought it would be an all week bidding war but it doesn't look like that will happen. I don't bid on an item until the last minute or two, not all week. That just runs the price up. We will see how it goes. If I remember right there is a Lincoln 1955 double die cent looking for a starting bid of $25,000. Have to wait till I get my Social Security check before bidding on that one.

Just my thoughts and opinions
