1847 Large Cent - Error Or Damaged?

PacificSilver New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 01/06/2013 4:48 pm I found this large cent in a coin shop and bought it on a whim, as I didnt have any large cents yet. After I got it home, I noticed some sort of impression on the reverse rim. Is this an error or damage? Any idea what it would grade? Thanks, PacificSilver Report this Post to the Staff

I showed the coin to a local dealer at a coin show previously...he told me it was damaged and worth about 5 bucks. I'm glad I didn't believe him. I might pay a few bucks more just because it's neat. Regarding the grade, it has too much hair detail for a fine. I'd grade it VF-20 myself and that is a fair grade I think. I can't tell if it has been cleaned or not without seeing it in person. I'll gladly double what that dealer offered for it...LOL @ $5. Report this Post to the Staff
