ok guys, here is the question.... Is there one of the ANACS holders that holds better value?... more accurate?... I know there have been several different holders which I believe signify different owners? Somebody please give me some direction.

For the reason, I have the opportunity to buy a morgan for a decent price graded by ANACS in the small, white holder. It may have had a PL designation. How accurate is the grade in the small, white holder traditionally?

Thanks.

I like the old white ANACS holders and I believe that I heard that the white holders were more conservatively graded.

Well sure wish I had this knowledge before yesterday. I should have pulled the trigger. Hope he still has this coin next weekend! He asked for almost half price of numismedia!

For some reason, people tend to bid lower for ANACS coins...

The fella selling this was at a flea market and did not have a clue what he had. He kept wanting to call it a proof (instead of pl coin). It was an 1879-O in MS62 PL in the old white holder. Numismedia has it at 290. Couldn't find any completed auctions on ebay for one just like it. His first asking price was 150. I never went back to see if I could get him off of that as the wife was with me and.... for me that would have been hard to explain right after Christmas. Anyway...

its a guy that does not specialize in coins at a local flea market. It won't be open again until Saturday. I'll be there early on Saturday and bring a little more money than I had yesterday! The reason I am asking about the grades on ANACS holders is I feel the coin was undergraded but I stink at designating pl on morgans. The value of this coin completely depends on the pl designation.

I have (had?) a MS63PL Morgan in an older white ANACS holder which I sent in to PCGS for crossover (https://goccf.com/t/135334), that you may wish to see how it turns out. If it crosses over at or a higher grade, PCGS will slab it in their holder, if not it will stay in it's ANACS holder.
