I, of all people should know that if you don't buy it when you see it, it probably won't be there when you go back. Not the most valuable of coins but I came across an 1883 Liberty V nickel (No Cents) graded by ANACS, in an older slab and graded at AU58. I walked out of the store and I forgot to buy the coin. Instead of turning around and going back to the store, I figured I'd get it the next day when I go back. The next day I went back and they were closed. The sign said they are closed on Monday too. Tuesday was New Years Day and they were closed. They are open an hour after I open and they close an hour before I do. I had to wait until today to go back for the coin and you already know what I'm going to say. It was gone.

Not a big ticket and no big loss. It was a pretty coin with great visual appeal. It's just the principle. I snooze and I lose.

That snoozing/losing thing has always been the way of life, but I think it's especially true for PM's (and by extension, probably for numismatic
coins as well) these days. $30ish silver (as noted in other threads) is thinning out if not emptying out LCS silver inventories. One LCS where I
live yanked their ASE inventory and buried it in the back room. Evidently they're not hot about selling ASEs for less than what they paid for them.

Can you imagine? The stiffs!

FatFreddy, that LCS will take your money when they're making a profit, though? Obviously, I don't know the shop, maybe they do right other times, but to hide inventory is wrong. They sound like this shop I came across recently. The guy wants to make big profits. No respect. So I'm staying away.

Did I ever tell you about the 308 Ferrari I passed on 6 months before Enzo died?

This wasn't at the local coin shop. This was at one of the numerous strip malls that contain multi-dealer stores. One of the consignors in this small store has a booth with coins. He's like all the other people who sells coins. His common Morgans and Peace dollars are 39 dollars and this is for coins in AG through Fine. He sells bullion coins way over spot. The one day I see a bargain, I have a brain fart. My fault. Like I said earlier, good thing it was a low dollar coin. It becomes another notch in my belt from the school of hard knocks.

@blackjack---The LCS in question wasn't a 'pro league' serious numismatic and bullion LCS. It was a mall LCS that looks like the overwhelming
majority of their action is buying (mostly scrap and junk) with only a very little bit of selling going on. They had no bullion in stock when I was there.

That's too bad. I'm sure you'll find another deal soon.
