Of course I've named what I think is my own variation in this example I own

I've scoured, and I mean scoured, HA, Tele-Trade, you name it, and have looked at an easy 100 AU + examples and I can not find one that has these under the "L" on the reverse

am I seeing things or are those whiskers? perhaps the rays were struck wrong at first on the planchet? PLEASE click the image to enlarge

thanks

The highlight of my day is I just got off the phone with Larry Briggs. I sent him this link for his expert opinion. He stated that 119 different dies were used for this overly produced year. There could be many different varieties that exist due to the logistics of the die pairings at the mint. So you are correct Dave, who knows.

Nope, nothing like that on mine... although I did notice a die crack coming off both arrow heads on the obverse

My guess is an over enthusiastic die polish was done right before this coin was struck, the polish stretched the lines on the die. Best guess.

Dave, you have an "arrows on the obverse" Seated Liberty? Is it a Pattern?

No "whiskers" on my A&R Quarter or Half.
