For the first pic is that the under side of the goblet? If it really does have a wide mouth like that on top and a rounded underside it more than likely really is a spittoon.
I haven't seen the goblets before but they do remind me of the wine goblets in church.

daniels,
I love the mark. I tried enlarging it but I can't make out the lettering. This is what is referred to as:
rmdc = Raised Mark, Depressed Channel.
This is usually a good sign of quality. You see this type of mark on early U.S. silver, gold and antique brass.
Decipher those marks. You may have some very nice (valuable) pieces.
Try the link I gave you too.

Some early rmdc marks: 1850's U.S. military back mark. This is an early non US mark.

The castle is a scottish identifier. But, if it is from scotland then its most likely plate - it doesn't have any other UK hallmarks to identify it as solid silver.

BenByField,
You are correct.
daniels,
I found your mark on the site I suggested. The mark is from Corbell & Company Founded in London 1946. Moved to Scottsdale, Arizona 1951.
Silver Plated. Boo. I was pulling for you man.

Nice goblet. I want to drink a Dr-Pepper out of it.
