Hi guys Anyone know how long it takes pcgs to grade coins. It's honestly getting me p$&)@!ed off. The parcel has been received by them according to the tracking but still waiting... I have been refreshing the pop report to see if any coins have shown up since there's not many Aussie coins in the pop report and therefore would be able to see if my coins have been graded... Speaking of which, does anyone know how long after coins are graded they are entered in the population report ? The wait is killing me... Edited by banknotelover 01/08/2013 10:30 pm

We did the standard free-be sign up with new membership and it took 4 weeks. Just grading and no varieties. I feel your pain!

The orders right now are taking longer than usual with the days off from the holiday and the new 2013 eagles ect coming out theres kind of a backlog at the moment. In terms of how long itll take will depend on the level of service. They almost always get it done within the time frame. One thing that sucks is the 30 days for economy really means 30 business days but I've always had them done right around the 30 day mark

It all depends on how busy they are and what the show schedule is like I've seen it from as short as a week to as long as 4 to 6 months. Right now they are probably having thousands of silver eagles coming in a day, combined with the fact that they are at FUN so there is no grading going on at the office means that turn around right now is probably going to be pretty long. Combined with that is the possibility of less than stellar grading because they are going to be rushed from trying to get out from under the back log. You may be in for a long wait for substandard grading.

There are orders of various sizes moving quickly and others not so much. My submission number is 121280 (possibly the 80th order received on 12/12), and there are numbers dancing all around mine, higher and lower, I don't know what their sequence of events is, but it is definitely NOT "First in...First out".

The larger dealer orders will get special treatment and the express orders hop to the front of their line delaying the others in the stream, a lot really does depend on what else is coming in in terms of speed

From what I've seen, about 15 seconds a coin. Oh, wait.. you mean grade 'em and mail them back, don'tcha?

I had been in a big hurry to get some my coins graded but after reading all this I think I'll give it a month or two to get all those ASE's out of the way

If you sent them in now youd still have them before you would waiting. Itll just be closer to the high end of the expected turn around date. If your in a hurry to get them graded Id go ahead and do it personally but I'm very impatient waiting for coins lol

Unless you are looking to sell them as soon as possible, I'd wait for the backlog to work it's way through. If it is something you are going to be keeping what does it matter if you slab it today or two months from now? Especially since if you send it in today it will be graded by people who are extremely rushed and who are being pressured to work as fast as possible, whereas in a couple month they won't be as rushed and can take a better look at it. (OK if it has a minor problem that you hope they don't notice today MIGHT actually be a better time to send it in.)

My world economy order was received by PCGS 11/8/12, I emailed them last week and was told the coins "are in the grading process". By far the longest I've ever waited on getting coins back.
