A bit of a plug for a friend of mine, a local dealer from the Ottawa area. He recently got a bunch of .999 silver rounds made, with his coin shop logo on the coin. I bought the very first one, and I was impressed with the strike and frosted devices.

(of course t_y thinks he bought the "first" one, but I pulled a fast one and switched them, my hands were quicker than his eyes - so mine is first )

Nice.

Is he selling them in the store or anywhere else? How much?

Might need to take a drive to Almonte soon.

They were made at the Northwest Territorial Mint, so the standard 1/4 pie cut reverse was used.

Those of you in the greater Ottawa area, it might be of interest to you to learn that Alliance Coin & Banknote has a new website, including lots of information on the anatomy of a coin, history of collecting and useful links.

Those quartered ounces do break apart, but you obviously ruin the coin/round/bar. One coin dealer suggested to me that I use a saw, but that cuts away material into dust. Use a chisel or a wedge instead and they'll come out adding up to your troy ounce. You can't really break it with your hands just like that.
