A local dealer "East Coast Coins" was burglarized twice in the past few weeks. Once two weeks ago, when a small quantity of rolled coin was stolen, and once late last week in the midst of the largest snow storm to hit the region this year. The second time, a large safe was stolen, along with a quantity of silver dollars, maples, world bullion, Newfoundland notes, and a binder of ICS graded nickels, among other notable pieces.
Please refer to the following links, and email the store owner at rodod@nl.rogers.com if you have *any* information, even as slight as suspected sales of stolen items. There is a reward offered, I believe it is at least $1000.
I was talking to the owner today, the lockbox that was stolen was, as I feared, his main lockbox...the thieves made away with virtually his entire showcase. I am stunned, and saddened. The seller is unmatched in terms of pricing and service, and he was just expanding to full 6 days a week service and regular hours, and he gets nailed with this. It sucks when things like this happen to the good guys.
