Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I wanted to hear specifically from my fellow Aussies. I've finally found the courage to submit some coins to pcgs myself... So I wanted to know ....
what shipping service you use/recommend I know to write something like 'numismatic materials' I obviously want it to be safe, do I need to insure it or can I get away with it using the priority 'more expensive' options with tracking and signature etc. if I need to insure it, how much do I write? I mean won't it look silly writing numismatic mAterial and stating value/insured value of 6000 for exAmple ? I had a quick quote using fed ex and they seem secure, but super super expensive, and they ask thousand questions on what's inside etc.
THere is thousands of slabbed coins here, high end ones too so obviously there must be a suitable method/process for us down under to ship safely with stress. Anyone can help? Edited by banknotelover 01/18/2013 7:11 pm

My understanding is that most people go through an Australian "Agent" who then makes submissions in bulk. I don't know any more details as I am not a fan of slabbed coins. There is no way that I would be posting an expensive coin to the US. I get stressed enough waiting for my ebay purchases to arrive.

I will investigate further, there's got to be a way.. Quote: I get stressed enough waiting for my ebay purchases to arrive. Ha ha.. I thought I was the only one.. The amount of times in my life I have gone to the post box or mail box to check, then re check, then realise, hey its Saturday, it's Sunday, it's public Holiday.. lol

Quote: I will investigate further, there's got to be a way.. The No Stress method for eastern states is via Eric at Drake Sterling. They are on the web. Not sure if the Big wwwww handles submissions, Walter is a member of this site, if he pops in he'll tell you.

Technically Aussie post will not insure coins and banknotes internationally. I send at least 100 parcels a year to the USA by insured mail but the are sent as medallions. I have only had 1 parcel to the states lost in the last 2 years

Bigfell. If you were sending "decent value" coins over there would you suggest writing medallions, numismatic materials or something like product sample? Or ?

I would just write medallions. You are then covered by insurance.
